Chris is the Director of the Institute for Translational Research in Children’s Mental Health, and Co-Director of Ambit Network both at the University of Minnesota.
Her work at Ambit Network focuses on the implementation and dissemination of trauma-informed practices across child serving systems e.g., juvenile justice, child welfare, education. She has an extensive background working in juvenile and criminal justice. Her juvenile justice work includes: clinical work with incarcerated youth; Principle Investigator on a national survey designed to understand the extent of trauma-informed practices within probation agencies across the US; and Consultant to the University of Oklahoma and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention on youth with problematic sexual behavior. Chris has expertise in program evaluation and is currently evaluating several new mental health initiatives implemented at the county level.
Prior to coming to the University of Minnesota, Chris retired as a Commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Corrections. She has two daughters and has been a part resident in the Wood River Valley for 15 years.
